The studio and the therapist

Where, who, and what kind of place it is

Where is Your Masseuse?

In a private residential building near Praed Street area, Paddington · Bayswater, London W2: 5 min on foot from Paddington, 8 min on foot from Lancaster Gate, 9 min on foot from Edgware Road, 20 min on foot from Bayswater. The exact address and door instructions come with your confirmation.

Who is the therapist?

Acia — a massage therapist from Almaty, Kazakhstan, trained in classical Swedish technique, deep tissue and remedial massage, working in London. She sees a maximum of four guests a day and speaks English, Russian and Kazakh.

Is it a spa or a clinic?

Neither. It is a single treatment room with one therapist: a proper table, a window on the quiet side, a shower, fresh linen for every guest and a door that closes. No reception, no waiting area, no other guests.

Is this a therapeutic massage service?

Yes — professional therapeutic massage for adults, by appointment only. Sessions focus on muscular tension, recovery and relaxation, and pressure is agreed out loud.

Do you offer mobile, hotel or couples massage?

No. One room, one therapist, one guest at a time. Two people can book consecutive slots. Most hotels around Paddington station are within five to eight minutes on foot.

Is the studio accessible?

The building entrance is step-free. Say when you book if you need anything specific and it will be arranged where possible.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a slow, firm massage that works into the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to release chronic tension — most often in the back, neck, shoulders and hips. It uses sustained pressure from the forearms, elbows and heel of the hand rather than fast strokes, and is chosen for a specific problem rather than general relaxation.

From £90 · Full page

Is deep tissue massage painful?

It should feel like strong, purposeful pressure you can breathe through — not sharp pain, and never pressure you have to brace against. I build up gradually and ask for feedback as I go; you can say “less” at any point without explaining yourself.

How is deep tissue different from Swedish massage?

Swedish works broadly and rhythmically across the whole body to relax you. Deep tissue works narrowly and slowly into specific muscles that are holding tension, using more pressure and much slower strokes. If you can point at the problem with one finger, deep tissue is usually the right call.

How long should I book?

Thirty minutes is enough for one region — the neck and shoulders, or the lower back. Sixty minutes covers the full back line properly. Ninety is for a body that has been ignored for a long time, or when you want deep work plus time to actually switch off afterwards.

Will I be sore afterwards?

Often a little, especially after a first session or a long gap — the same feeling as a good training day. It passes within 24 to 48 hours. Water, a warm shower and gentle movement help.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the classic full-body relaxation massage: long gliding strokes towards the heart, kneading and gentle rocking with warm oil at light-to-medium pressure. It is chosen for stress, poor sleep and general tension rather than for one specific knot.

From £80 · Full page

What is the pressure like?

Light to medium by default — enough to work the muscle, never enough to brace against. If you like it firmer, say so at the start and I will work deeper; if you want something genuinely deep, book deep tissue instead.

Is Swedish massage good for stress?

It is the classic for a reason. Slow, rhythmic pressure across the whole body lowers heart rate and switches the nervous system out of its daytime mode. Most guests describe the effect as feeling “switched off” for the first time in weeks.

Thirty, sixty or ninety minutes?

Thirty minutes is a proper back, neck and shoulders session. Sixty is the complete classic. Ninety lets me spend real time on the legs, feet and scalp instead of passing through, and the last half hour is where the deepest rest tends to happen. If it is your first visit, sixty is a good place to start.

Full Body Massage

A full body massage is a complete session covering the back, shoulders, neck, arms, hands, legs, feet, décolleté and scalp in one unbroken rhythm at medium, adjustable pressure. It is chosen when everything needs attention — after a long flight, a hard week, or as a monthly reset.

From £120 · Full page

What does “full body” actually include?

Back, shoulders and neck; arms and hands; the fronts and backs of the legs; feet; décolleté; scalp and face. You choose the level of undress you are comfortable with, and you stay covered by a towel apart from the area being worked on.

Can it be deep?

Medium by default so that everything gets covered. If you want the back worked deeply and the rest kept gentle, say so — that combination works well in ninety minutes. For deep work everywhere, book deep tissue instead.

Is it good for jet lag?

Very. A slow full body session a few hours after landing lowers the stress hormones that keep you wired, and most guests sleep through their first night. The studio is a short walk from the Heathrow Express platform at Paddington.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage is a light-to-medium pressure Swedish massage carried by an essential-oil blend chosen for the client — for example vetiver and cedarwood for an overactive mind, or lavender and chamomile for sleep. It is chosen for anxiety, overload and headaches rather than for deep muscular work.

From £90 · Full page

Which oils do you use?

A small, honest range: lavender, chamomile, vetiver, cedarwood, sweet orange, bergamot, rosemary and frankincense, blended into warm sweet almond or grapeseed oil. The blend is mixed for you at the start of the session, and I will tell you what is in it.

Is aromatherapy massage safe in pregnancy?

Several essential oils are not suitable in pregnancy, so tell me when you book. From the second trimester I can work with a pregnancy-safe blend and side-lying positioning; in the first trimester I would suggest waiting.

Is it a deep massage?

No — light to medium pressure is the point. If you want something worked hard, book deep tissue; if you want to switch off, this is the one.
